Hello I have started to explore finite mixture models; most of the literature is a bit beyond me, but I am struggling through it (e.g. I have McLachlan and Peel's book Finite Mixture Models. I am currently using the FlexMix package in R. Does anyone know of a more introductory level treatment? I am particularly interested in interpreting and reporting the results....e.g., if I have a 3 component mixture of Poissons, then output includes parameter estimates of each IV for each component, but how best to interpret this in terms of what the model indicates about how the IVs affect the DV across the components? That is, substantive interest is in how the DV relates to the IVs - not specifically in the components. Thanks in advance Peter Peter L.
