The next in CEWIT’s series of “how to” workshops for entrepreneurs, early phase companies, inventors, and anyone thinking of becoming an entrepreneur. Our All-Star cast of speakers is ready to present technology agnostic information on topics such as seed funding, crowd funding, profile of a fundable company, intellectual property, types of corporate entities, and other relevant topics.

Presenters include Gavin Grusd of Silverman Acampora, Anthony Bennett of Hoffmann & Baron, Lori Hoberman of Hoberman Law Group, Alon Kapen of Farrell Fritz, Neil Kaufman of Abrams Fensterman, Russell Artzt of CA Technologies (Co-Founder), Andrew Hazen (Serial Entrepreneur), Leslie Whatley of START-UP NY, and with a special Welcome by Yacov Shamash, Vice President of Economic Development and Dean of CEAS at Stony Brook University.

UL Approval Seminar

May 21, 2015 | 10:00AM-1:00PM | The Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT)

CEWIT and Underwriters Laboratories are pleased to be running a 2-3 hour seminar to educate small companies on the rules and requirements to seek a UL approval.

Topics will cover the Applied Safety Science and Engineering Techniques (UL ASSET), integrating fundamental engineering science with product design and management; Hazard Based Safety Engineering (HBSE), principles and tools to evaluate hazards and protection; and Electromagnetic Compatibility Certifications (EMC), Wireless and Interoperability lead by Thomas Lanzisero, P.E., Lead Engineering Instructor with UL University of Underwriters Laboratories LLC. With more than 30 years of applied practice in safety engineering, Mr. Lanzisero serves as principal UL instructor and practitioner of Hazard Based Safety Engineering, applying fundamental safety science and engineering to product safety. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, by the William Henry Merrill Society (Corporate Fellows) of UL.
